Concern workers of sokaban wood village in the Ashanti region have given government one week ultimatum to resolve issues affecting their operations.
The irate wood merchants besiege kumasi FM on Monday February 26, arguing that they have certification to retail wood processed by the sawmill however some identified Persons at the forestry commission has denied them from trading.
The group alleged that their trucks have been impounded with unknown reasons and are being charged to pay an amount of GH¢10,000.00 in order to release their impounded tracks. They fumed that failure to pay such monies results ones products being confiscated.
A concern member of the group, Akwasi Nyamekye in an interview with class new's Maxwell Ofori Atta describe the swift directives by the forestry commission as a step to deceive artisan at the sokobon wood village after NPP government promised upliftment of the wood industry should they vote for them to capture political power.
The group has therefore resolve to hold on paying taxes, duties and subsequently embark on mammoth demonstrate if Government fail to address their grievances.
Mr. Adam Abdul a certified retailer of the wood products by T. I. D.D bemoaned that the apparent directive is affecting their livelihood and called for immediate intervention.

Meanwhile speaking to the host of Kumasi FM morning show Nana Gyantua, a forestry commission officer in charge of special duty, Charles Owusu pooh poohed the allegations, describing activities of the artisans and wood merchants as breach to the regulations of the forestry commission.
Mr. Owusu argued that in a recent meeting with the retailers of Wood products, the commission outlined steps to be followed adding that Timber Industry Development Division (T. I. D. D) has advanced on plans to take stocks (wood products) of the merchants to aid them load and offload their goods.
He urged the irate artisan to resource to the appropriate medium of resolving their grievances.
He also impelled the group not to indent the image of the forestry commission adding that strategies and swift measures are meant to to protect and preserve the national forest.
Mr. Owusu further warned illegal chain saw operators to refrain from their illicit practice in that measures are being put in place to arrest such practitioners soon.
