TURN KUMASI ZOO TO TRANSPORT YARD

The 2nd Vice Chairman for Suame Constituency of New Patriotic Party (NPP),  Richard  Asante,  has reiterated the need for the Kumasi Zoological Garden to be relocated to give a facelift to Kumasi.

According to him, the current  location could be used as transport yard since no provision was made under the Kejetia project.

Speaking to the media after the inauguration of the Suame Municipal Assembly (SMA) yesterday,  Mr Asante said to restore the past glory of Kumasi,  authorities should put in place measures to bring down vehicular traffic within the city.

He disclosed that due to unavailability of parking places,  both private and commercial drivers park their vehicles at unauthorized places which stiffen traffic in the city.

According to him,  when parking places are provided it will motivate the police to enforce the road traffic regulations to ensure discipline on the roads.

He noted that the current location of the zoo can be used to accommodate hundreds of vehicles to prevent commercial drivers from entering into the Kejetia terminal when completed.

He disclosed that the zoo should be relocated outside the city and renovated to become one of the tourist sites to generate revenue for the development of the garden city.

Call. Mr Asante Richard,  2nd Vice Chairman  for Suame Constituency of NPP. on 0244812075/0506657198
